This privacy policy has been created in order to provide users of my blog with information as to how I use their personal information (“Personally Identifiable Information” or PII).
What personal information do I gather from users who visit my blog?
When you subscribe to email updates I collect your email address.
How do I use this information?
I use your email address in order to send you updates on new posts through this blog.
How do I protect user information?
I do not use an SSL certificate, however I do not need to do so as there is no login form for the blog. The subscribe widget collects emails that are only viewable by Admin of the blog.
Do I use tracking cookies?
Yes. Tracking cookies are a tool that websites use to gather information about interests of users so as to make more informed recommendations to them. You can opt-out of cookies through your web browser settings, or ensure that you are notified when cookies are being used. I use cookies to analyze information about my site visitors, so that I can cater my content and media posts to my audience more effectively. You may disable cookies, and doing so will not affect your browser experience.
Third Party Disclosure
I do not sell, trade, or transfer your information to outside or third parties.
I have enabled Google Demographics and Interests reporting to gather information about user interactions. You may opt out by adjusting your Google advertisement preferences, or the Google Analytics Opt Out browser plugin/add-on.
CAN-SPAM Act
This act is a law that governs the commercial collection of email addresses. I collect your email in order to send blog post updates periodically. To be in accordance with this act I will:
- Honor opt-out requests in a timely manner
- Allow users to unsubscribe by visiting the subscription widget on the blog’s sidebar
Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
This act imposes requirements for websites directed towards children under 13 years of age. I do not market specifically to children under the age of 13.
Fair Information Practices
In order to be in accordance with the Fair Information Practices Principles I will take the following actions should a data breach occur:
- I will notify users via email within 7 business days of the data breach
- I will notify users via site notification within 7 business days of the data breach
California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA)
CalOPPA is a privacy protection act that applies to any person who collects Personally Identifiable Information (in the case of my blog, an email address) from residents of California. I agree to comply with these regulations by:
- Providing an easily accessible link to this Privacy Policy that contains the word “Privacy” in the main menu of my blog
- Providing users with information about the types of personal information I collect, how I use this information, and how I will comply with the internet usage regulations described in this Privacy Policy
