Hello everyone! You’ve probably seen my posts on social media about my experience with the 30 day challenge using Traffic Secrets: The Underground Playbook for Filling Your Websites and Funnels with Your Dream Customers by Russell Brunson and I’m so excited to share the results with you!
I started this challenge on the 26th of May and today is the final day! It went so quickly and I learned so much about my content and goals which has been a goal of mine for years now. I saw my traffic grow exponentially with the techniques in this challenge and best of all I have a few strategies that have consistently been boosting my traffic!
Discovering a New Content Niche
Something that you hear a lot about in the writing and blogging world is content niches, and this is something that I’ve always struggled to identify for my blog for the many years I’ve been creating content. My niche has changed so many times over the past five years, but the 30 day Traffic Secrets challenge made me realize that the past five years have given me a new micro niche to explore: blogging tips and tricks! I’ve learned so much over the past five years and have gone through lots of trial and error in so many areas! With this in mind, I created a post about influencer networks to join when starting to monetize your content and it was really well received!
Not only that, I realized through this challenge that Pinterest was a social media platform I truly didn’t know how to use to best market my content and I was able to take this piece of content and market it with these new strategies! (Fun fact: Pinterest was the first ever social media platform I had and in the past few months I’ve learned so much about the best way to create and promote pins and now it’s back to being my favorite platform!)
How Much My Traffic Grew in 30 Days
I have always struggled to keep consistent traffic sources. Some days I have time to post a lot of content and I’ll see a temporary boost in my overall traffic or social media numbers, but it’s often the case that those numbers will dip once again on days when I don’t post consistently.
With the 30 day Traffic Secrets challenge I was able to learn how to create sustainable and continuously growing traffic channels! The primary example I have of this is my Pinterest account, which when I first started the challenge was actually seeing a daily decrease in impressions and views! I was pinning more and more content and each day my stats would keep dropping! After a few days of the challenge, I started to think of new ways to market my content on Pinterest and I took my monthly viewers from it’s low point of 20k to 77k and growing!
My website traffic also grew, reaching it’s all time high in 30 day pageviews and unique site visitors! I also saw a decrease in my bounce rate meaning that more visitors were staying on my site and checking out other articles!
I Started Spending Less on Ads and Getting More Organic Engagement
Before I started the 30 day Traffic Secrets challenge I promoted one of my pins linking to an article on my blog for a total spend of $12. This $12 ad spend got me 15k impressions and about 140 link clicks. I was so impressed!
Using the strategies I learned in the 30 day challenge I tracked the stats for another pin linking to the same article but this time not paid, and when I checked in on it a few days later it had 17k impressions!! It had fewer link clicks than the paid ad (something I’m fine tuning and working on) but the incredible impressions it got meant more and more people keep seeing it on their Pinterest feeds. I keep checking in on these pins that I created using the strategies I learned in the challenge and they keep growing even when I’m not re-pinning them. I’ve never had this kind of traffic that continues to grow without a significant amount of consistent posting!
I Curated My Social Media Feeds to Have More Content I Wanted to See and Saw Growth on My Own Channels
Something that had been bothering me for quite some time was primarily my Instagram feed. I was always seeing content from the same seven accounts even though I was following over 400 accounts. As part of the daily challenge, I went through and unfollowed inactive accounts and started truly looking for content that inspired me and my Instagram feed has completely changed! I found so many incredible new content creators to follow and even saw my own Instagram engagement increase the most it ever has (Instagram has been the platform I’ve struggled with the most in terms of growth)!
I also learned what other content creators wanted to see through questions I asked on my Instagram stories and Twitter, and I found that a lot of people want more community in the writing and blogging world. This made me really consider starting up the Twitter chat I’ve always been meaning to start, and I found another incredible content creator interested in partnering with me to make it happen!
What I Loved Most About Traffic Secrets
The Traffic Secrets book was written to address one of the most common problems that content creators and entrepreneurs have when starting or growing their business: the art and science of getting consumers to find you. I really struggled with this before starting the challenge, because I had been blogging for five years and my traffic was either the same or in some cases decreased in that time! Talk about discouraging!!
Russell Brunson wrote the Traffic Secrets book to help creators and entrepreneurs find traffic streams that stay consistent despite changing algorithms and social media or marketing platforms. The book also has suggestions that can be adapted to any content niche, product, or platform which was incredibly helpful for me since I was still learning exactly what it was I wanted to promote (problem number one!–and something that was clearly addressed and tackled right away in this 30 day challenge).
