Why I’m Making New Nutrition and Health Goals
As some of you may know, I’ve been through a number of health challenges over the past few years. After my surgery last September I’m doing much better, but am still fine tuning what I eat every day and finding what does and doesn’t work.
As of the past few months I’ve found my biggest challenge to be eating at regular meal times, and often will skip meals accidentally or eat the same type of foods for all meals (cereal, oatmeal, pasta, and veggie burgers). There is a lot of information that says to avoid carbs, have an early dinner, and never eat before bed (for me, this has been more for nutrition balance and better sleep/avoiding nausea). The latest scientific research shows this is not the most ideal, and I’m interested in learning how to improve my nutrition in a way that I can work into my current routine and make last.
I have also been drinking a full cup of coffee before eating anything in the morning, and haven’t been the best at drinking water regularly either (regular hydration is incredibly important for maintaining good health: “water helps digest your food, expel wastes, regulate your temperature, protect your tissues, cushion your joints, and protect your spinal column, among many other vital functions. It is through water that hormones flow to the proper organs, that nutrients reach all cells, and that toxins are diluted and removed from the body”). With more of an unstructured schedule at the moment I’ve found regular eating and hydrating difficult to maintain, and I’m making goals for the summer months of 2020 to strive for more balance in these areas.
Why I Chose Always Eat After 7pm for My New Goals
I’m using Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion for my new health and nutrition goals to learn how to balance my nutrition and to add new recipes to my meal routine.
Recently I’ve been eating the same meals over and over, and often reaching for a bowl of cereal before making a full meal. One of my main goals is to start meal planning for each week, and to stick to those recipes for my dinners (and use the leftovers to vary my lunches). I also hope to bring more interesting breakfast recipes into my routine, to get away from always reaching for oatmeal and cereal. To get an idea of some of the great recipes (especially breakfast!) in Always Eat After 7pm, here is a video by author Joel Marion!
I also want to bring a regular routine of cooking back into my life (something I have always loved exploring!), and to expand the recipes I know how to make and try new foods to keep things interesting!
