The past few weeks have been very relaxing and fulfilling, and it’s almost time for me to head back to campus. This will be the first time in many months that I will be staying in a familiar place, and though it will be different from what I’ve grown used to I’m looking forward to being more proactive about my health.
Though I was able to adjust well to a variety of routines, over time my health needs shifted. One of the primary shifts, as some of you know, is my change from coffee to tea. Now if you saw my Instagram posts from last year (and if you saw me in person last year), you know that I drank a lot of coffee. But after a while I realized that I was relying on it too much, and not addressing the underlying issues.
I now have at least three cups of tea a day (especially with the temperatures recently, -25F calls for lots of warm drinks!), and don’t feel the same fatigue I would feel from drinking cups and cups of coffee. I’ve also changed up my supplement routine, making it more consistent and thorough.
But the overall health impact I had from traveling for months is problematic skin. This primarily surfaced in acne and breakouts, but was also visible in my overall skin health. One of my least favorite feelings is having dry skin (fun fact–I have to wash my hands right after working with clay because of the feeling of the clay drying after a few minutes!), and I was looking for something soothing, organic, and cruelty-free to help with this.
That’s when I found Makes 3 Organics, and they were kind enough to send me their Organic Lavender Miracle Balm in exchange for an honest review! It’s an amazing moisturizing balm for skin woes, especially during the winter time.
Now I cook often and sometimes am not the most careful when it comes to hot oil, pans, etc. and have accumulated a fair few burns on my hands as a result. This balm has helped the burns heal and stay protected against the cold winter weather, which I am so grateful for.
As you may know from my Cruelty-Free Makeup Review and Giveaway post, over the past year I have been in the process of transitioning to cruelty-free products. A hand balm is something I hadn’t yet transitioned, and the Organic Lavender Miracle Balm was the perfect addition! It is EWG certified to ensure that all ingredients are safe for skin (which is important for me since I have sensitive skin), and is:
- GMO free
- Gluten free
- Sulfate free
- Alcohol free
- Paraben free
- Petroleum free
- Free of all synthetics
- Made with pure and plant-based ingredients (making it a vegan product!)
- Made with sustainably sourced elements
- Made with therapeutic essential oils
- Made with environmentally responsible packaging.
The balms also come in a variety of other forms and scents, and there is an unscented version if you prefer.
The weather is finally starting to warm up some, but I’m about to travel back to campus where I know I’ll be using this often!
If you do give this balm a try, let me know what you think! What are your go-to winter favorites from cruelty-free brands?
